The outskirts of Wyndham have been growing at a phenomenal pace and the existing infrastructure in these suburbs is struggling to keep up with that growth. It means locals are spending longer times in traffic and less time at home with their family.
That’s why I'm calling for the Wyndham WestLink – to connect growing suburbs, to ease congestion, to boost productivity, and to reduce travel times.
The project will connect Tarneit and Wyndham Vale as well as connecting Manor Lakes, Wyndham Vale and Werribee to the Princes Freeway.
While the State Labor Government has delivered congestion-busting infrastructure by removing level crossings, delivering better public transport options, and building the West Gate Tunnel Project, Wyndham has been ignored for 8 long years by the Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison Government.
The first stage of the project will link Armstrong and Ison Roads between Blackforest Road and the Princes Freeway with a bridge over the railway lines; saving locals commuting to Melbourne and Geelong time by connecting them directly with the freeway and easing congestion on suburban streets by avoiding travel through the heart of Wyndham to access the freeway.
The project will also link Tarneit and Wyndham Vale with a bridge over the Werribee River – meaning 70% of Wyndham’s growth will be connected via both rail and road saving locals time by avoiding travelling into Werribee.
On completion, this vital piece of congestion-busting infrastructure will also ease traffic on established roads in the heart of our city.
