Galvin Park Pavilion Redevelopment Completion
ANOTHER PROMISE DELIVERED AS THE SEXTON PAVILION OPENS AT GALVIN PARK
A significant milestone has been reached today, with the official opening of the Galvin Park Sexton Pavilion Redevelopment, an investment made possible through the commitment of the Albanese Labor Government to building Wyndham’s future.
In 2022, Federal Member for Lalor, Joanne Ryan announced an Albanese Labor Government would deliver $500,000 to transform the outdated pavilion into a modern and inclusive facility, with brand new changerooms, umpire rooms, medical spaces, and committee meeting rooms. The new facility is purpose-built to cater for both men's and women’s sports, addressing long-standing needs within the local community.
The completion of this redevelopment ensures that the Galvin Park Sexton Pavilion is now on par with other modern Australian rules, netball and cricket facilities across the electorate of Lalor, setting a new standard for sporting infrastructure in the region.
The Sexton Pavilion Redevelopment was delivered in partnership with the Werribee Centrals Sports & Youth Club, the Victorian Government and the City of Wyndham.
Quotes attributable to Joanne Ryan MP:
As a local who lives just a few drop punts away from Galvin Park and a long-term supporter of the club, I know how much these facilities will be valued and utilised by the Werribee Centrals community.
I want to thank the tireless work of the Werribee Centrals Sports & Youth Club committee for working so hard to bring this project from planning to completion.
The completion of the Galvin Park Sexton Pavilion Redevelopment is a proud moment for the Werribee community. This facility is more than just a sports hub – it’s a space that brings people together and strengthens the bonds within our community. With the redevelopment now complete, we are building Wyndham’s future, one that is inclusive, vibrant, and supportive of local clubs and residents alike.
Quotes attributable to Vincent Keogh, Chairman Of The Werribee Centrals Sports & Youth Club:
On behalf of the Werribee Centrals Sports Club I would like to extend our appreciation to the Federal and State Governments and Wyndham City Council for their incredible support in bringing this fantastic $5m project to fruition.
Not only is this a facility for our Sports Club, which is one of the oldest and biggest in the municipality, with an increasing emphasis on female participation, but it is also a much-needed community facility that will be the home for RecLink and host many other school and sporting groups throughout the year.
This project has been a great example of Government, Council and our Sports Club working co-operatively to achieve what will be a great community asset.
