Under the Liberals from 2013-2022 there were no new major infrastructure projects in Wyndham funded by the Federal Government while our city grew.
Labor’s building the Wyndham Ring Road
We’ve already committed funding to stage 1 of the Wyndham Ring Road, by delivering $125 million to fix the Princes Freeway & Werribee Main Road interchange that will be connected to the Ison Road Overpass which the Albanese Labor Government delivered $57 million to build.
A re-elected Labor Government will deliver stage 2 by building a new bridge over the Werribee River connecting Armstrong and Hobbs roads in Wyndham Vale to Sayers Road in Tarneit by constructing a new bridge over the Werribee River.
By connecting these two suburbs, it will save locals travelling in between these suburbs travelling via Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, easing congestion in the centre of our community.
Upgrades to key intersections along Ballan Road
Part of Labor’s $1.2 billion Road Blitz to upgrade important roads in Melbourne’s suburbs and surrounds, we are also investing $41.75 million in upgrading the Ballan-McGarth-Greens Road intersection.
We are also undertaking planning work to upgrade the intersection of Ballan Road and Armstrong Road and Ballan Road bridge over the railway line.
Increased funding to Wyndham for local road upgrades
Labor has provided Wyndham City Council $13.2 million over the next 5 years to spend on fixing local roads under the Roads to Recovery funding stream. This is $5.7 million more than Wyndham would have received under a Liberal Government.
This funding has seen the Australian Government invest:
- $1.5 million to upgrade Sayers Road – between Tarneit Road and Derrimut Road.
- $1.2 million to upgrade Priorswood Drive in Hoppers Crossing between Abbotswood Drive and Sandleford Way
- $1.2 million to upgrade Warringa Crescent in Hoppers Crossing between Appian Court and Warrenwood Avenue
- $1.19 million to upgrade Danube Drive in Werribee between Thames Boulevard to Latham Street
- $254,000 to upgrade Ashton Crescent in Hoppers Crossing between Voltaire Ct and Alsace Ave
Active Transport in Wyndham
The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program has invested $2.3 million in Wyndham’s Active Transport – stage 1 & 2 for Bicycle and Walking paths.
