Labor to Provide Half a Million Dollars For Community Centre

Federal Member for Lalor, Joanne Ryan, announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will contribute $500,000 to commence stage two of Werribee Islamic Centre’s infrastructure project.

Werribee Islamic Centre remains a community hub for worship, gathering and programs for local Muslims in the city of Wyndham.

This $500,000 election commitment will support the development of a shared community space, library and gym facilities in addition to a recently completed mosque and childcare centre on-site.

This will deliver vital services to vulnerable community members, including women, children and new migrants to the community who are looking to establish and immerse themselves in Wyndham’s community.

Members of Werribee Islamic Centre’s committee have remained committed to uplifting the community and their overarching goal of creating meaningful community impact. This versatile space in the form of a community hub will provide greater capacity for this community to engage in programs, benefitting those who call Wyndham home.This is an important investment in Wyndham’s Muslim community, an investment in Werribee Islamic Centre and an investment in building Wyndham’s future.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
